Gabriela Novoa
Born El Salvador, 1991 · Lives and works in El Salvador
Gabriela Novoa is a Salvadoran multidisciplinary artist and independent filmmaker working across painting, embroidery, moving image, installation, performance, and graphic narrative. Her practice examines the body as a site where desire, sexuality, memory, violence, and structures of power intersect, from a feminist and politically engaged perspective.
Her recent work expands these concerns toward relationships between bodies, territory, militarization, and ecological imagination. Through hybrid figures, botanical speculation, archival material, and poetic narrative, she considers transformation and collective dreaming as forms of resistance to structural violence. Novoa holds a degree in Visual Arts with a specialization in Painting from the University of El Salvador and has exhibited through interdisciplinary projects and residencies across Central America, the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
