Ser tierra, mujer, planta, animal y planeta
(Being Soil, Woman, Plant, Animal, and Planet)
On view through May 19
Mahara+Co is pleased to continue presenting Ser tierra, mujer, planta, animal y planeta (Being Soil, Woman, Plant, Animal, and Planet), a group exhibition curated by Mariví Véliz, featuring works by Paula Nicho (Guatemala), Gabriela Novoa (El Salvador), and Cecilia Porras Sáenz (Guatemala–Mexico).
The exhibition brings together three artists whose work engages Mesoamerican thought, approaching the ancestral not as a fixed past, but as an active and transformative force within contemporary life. Through painting, textiles, and expanded image-making, the exhibition moves through questions of the body, ecology, memory, spirituality, and transformation, opening broader systems of relation beyond a human-centered perspective.
A central highlight of the exhibition is the inclusion of works by Paula Nicho, whose practice is deeply rooted in Mayan cosmovision and who participated in the 2024 edition of the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.
The exhibition remains on view through May 19, 2026.
